Home Staging with Danielle Keller
With so many buyers turning to their phones to shop for homes, making sure your home is seen in the best light is vital to ensuring your home will sell for top dollar. Staging your home can lead to significant financial gains - homes that are prepared and staged prior to hitting the market have a sale price of 8% - 12% higher than homes that are not staged, and they spend less than half the time on the market as properties that are not professionally prepared. We enlisted the help of a professional home stager to provide you key pointers on things you can do to help your home sell for top dollar.
Danielle Keller, with Majestic Home Staging shared 3 easy steps to spruce up your home and prepare it for sale.
Purge, declutter, and de-personalize. When selling your home, you want to remember to showcase your home space not your stuff - its is crucial that you remove family photos, personal memorabilia, and remove items off of countertops.
Paint the home a neutral and bright color to help accentuate the space. Dark paint colors on walls can make a home appear smaller. Neutral colors will go with whatever color scheme you choose to create in your space and makes your home feel cohesive.
Add greenery! A good green plant or tree can take the place of photos in your home and creates a warm inviting atmosphere. Danielle shared with us a piece of insight we thought was valuable to all home sellers, “buyers are visual - its hard for them to see a space for what it is when its filled with people’s belongings or vacant. You want to create a space that showcases the homes potential.”
Danielle shared with us her secrets to creating an inviting space (hint: all four are found in this photo)
The four items that Danielle uses without fail in every home staging are: throw pillows, art, greenery, and throw blankets. She also shared with us where she finds most of her staging decor - HomeGoods, Pier 1, and Tuesday Mornings are the stores she frequents the most. Her best kept secret? Creating spaces that look and feel expensive, doesn’t have to be expensive!
We shared more about the importance of having your home highlighted in photos on this post.
